With the arrival of June 2026, millions of Italian pensioners are awaiting the credit of their monthly pension payment. INPS has already communicated the official dates and payment methods; however, correctly reading a pension statement — and understanding why the net amount received may differ significantly from the gross figure — is not always straightforward. In this article, the LexGo team analyses the essential information, with a practical focus on the tax implications and possible withholdings that affect the final amount.
When Will the June 2026 Pension Be Paid?
INPS has confirmed that the June 2026 pension statement will be credited with value date Monday, 1 June. The calendar follows the general rule whereby pension benefits are paid on the first banking day of each month. Exceptions apply on public holidays or non-banking days — in such cases payment is deferred to the next available working day — and in the month of January, for which the credit traditionally takes place on the second banking day.
For the remainder of the year, the calendar already communicated by INPS provides for credits on 1 July, 1 August (with some banks potentially deferring to the 3rd), 1 September, 1 October, 2 November and 1 December.
Cash Payments: When Are They Permitted?
Pensioners who prefer to collect their pension in cash at post office branches may do so, but only up to a precise threshold: total net amounts of up to €1,000.00. Above this limit, the pensioner is required to provide INPS with their bank or postal account details (IBAN) to which the credit is to be made. This communication is submitted through the dedicated section of the institutional portal, accessible via inps.it → Pensione e Previdenza → Cambiare le coordinate di accredito della pensione.
This provision is designed to ensure traceability and security in transactions of significant value, in line with current anti-money laundering legislation.
How to View Your Pension Statement Online

Through this platform it is possible to:
